Easter 2024
The song ‘The Day After You’re Gone’ (below) is the opening song for what I anticipate being my last film. The film is called “The Day After You’re Gone” and in the film I imagine some of the conversations the disciples may have had on the Saturday after the first Good Friday, and before Jesus has risen on Easter Sunday. The musicians on this song are Simon Cotton and me, with Mike Cole singing.
The song ‘Jesus Lives’ (below) is the closing song for the film “The Day After You’re Gone”. At the end of the film, three of the women leave early in the morning to go and anoint Jesus’ body. So this song is my way of saying with those women “Jesus is alive”! The musicians on this song are Ryan Mellor, Simon Cotton, Martin Dove and me. The cameraman was Bernard Whelan.
Tis the Season of Joy – December 2022
The first of five songs for Advent Cottage film (below). This song was just intended to inject some jollyness into the start of the film. The musicians were my wife Roxana, and a friend Carmen Flores. The singers were Amelie, Ophelia, Elsa, Clara, Bethany, Grace, Nico, Ben and Joel.
Jesus is Riding – December 2022
The second of five songs for Advent Cottage film (below). This is the first attempt at pleasing the Archangel Helgar. It failed because it wasn’t sufficiently solemn. The lead singer is Andrew Beaumont, with most of the cast in the play joining in the chorus. David Fowler did some musical magic on his mandolin.
Glory to God – December 2022
The third of five songs for Advent Cottage film (below). This is the second attempt at pleasing the Archangel Helgar. It failed because it wouldn’t work for the shepherds of Bethlehem (who weren’t sufficiently cultured). Writing this song took me back to my choir boy days! The song was sung by most of the actors in the play. My wife Roxana plays the organ.
The King of Heaven – December 2022
The forth of five songs for Advent Cottage film (below). This is my attempt at soul music, and the third attempt at pleasing the Archangel Helgar. It succeeded. The lead singer is Jennifer Dann and the rest was sung by most of the cast in the play. My wife Roxana played the keyboard, Simon Cotton played the guitar and Mark Baker added some brass instruments into the mix.
Take up Your Cross – December 2022
The fifth of five songs for Advent Cottage film (below). It was written to be played when the credits are rolling. Apart from me, the musicians and singers for this song are Ryan and Sally Mellor, Jennifer Dann, Simon Cotton and Giles Pettit
Mary & Joe – December 2021
The first of five songs for Mary & Joe film (below). Whilst written by me, it was recorded entirely by Mark Baker. The idea of this piece of film is that it shows all the actors leaving their homes to gather at the church for the play.
Holy is His Name (The Magnificat) – December 2021
The second of five songs for Mary & Joe film (below). The music was recorded by Mark Baker and the singer is Phoebe Mellor.
Wedding Song – December 2021
The third of five songs for Mary & Joe film (below). This song was entirely recorded by Mark Baker.
Praises to the King – December 2021
The forth of five songs for Mary & Joe film (below). The music was entirely recorded by Mark Baker, with Mike Cole, Izzy Cole, Gill Kirkwood and David Fowler as the singers.
Christmas Time – December 2021
The fifth of five songs for Mary & Joe film (below). The song was sung by a special choir put together each year for the carol service. My wife Roxana plays the keyboard for this and the choir is conducted by Pam Price.
How Majestic is your Name – December 2020
I only wrote one song for the Not the Nine Lessons and Carols of Christmas film (below). The music was recorded by me and my wife Roxana, and Mike Cole sings.
